Kids’ Night Out

SUPER KIDS LOVE SUPER HEROES!  Send your child to Kids’ Night Out Friday, October 3rd as we celebrate our favorite SUPER HEROES!  We’ll have hero themed games, snacks, and crafts! Who: Ages 6 wks to 12 years When: Friday,Oct 3, 6pm—10:30pm Where: 37 E. Beauregard (enter through glass doors in alley) Cost: $10 per child or $25 per family What to Bring: An evening meal for your child. We will provide the drinks, snacks, and fun!

Reservations HIGHLY recommended!  Please email Karla (karla@firstmethodist.net) with the name and age of each child to reserve your spot. If they are a toddler, please let us know if he or she is potty trained. We look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Vantage Begins Next Sunday!

Vantage is a Sunday night small group for 6th graders and their 6th grade friends.  We’ll kick off the year at Stadium Lanes @ 4pm, Oct. 5.  Email liz@firstmethodist.net if you have a 6th grader and haven’t received Vantage details yet.

Youth Class Olympics

Sunday, Oct. 5 Youth will kick off their fall programming with the first ever “Class Olympics” to be held at the Central HS Gym at 5pm.  Wear comfortable clothes that you can be active in and bring your classmates so your class can take home the First Place Title!  FMI tony.walker@saisd.org

Fall Academy Underway!

The Academy will run Sept. 17 – Oct. 29, with meals being served from 5:00-6:00. Adult Classes will start at 6:00pm. The cost for dinner is $3/Adults, $2/Youth, $1/Children.  Menu for Oct 1: Hamburgers, Fries, Fruit Salad, & Cupcakes

Meals for the Elderly Delivery Continues

Undee Sunday

“Somebody’s Rusty”  is hosting “Undee Sunday” October 5th.  Please bring unopened packages of men’s and women’s socks and underwear.  All donations will be distributed to homeless and displaced men and women in our community. FMI contact  Candis Hicks at 325 763 7387 or hunterfan@suddenlink.net .

International Student Host Families Needed

The ASU HOST FAMILY PROGRAM matches international students with local “host families” who help them feel welcome. There are several students who need host families this semester!  The students live on campus, and there is no cost to join the program. Questions or to obtain an application, e-mail or call Elva Aguilar (eaguilar@angelo.edu) or Ron Landers (ronald.landers@angelo.edu) at (325) 942-2083 at the Center for International Studies.

Unable to Have Your Picture Made for the Directory?

You have one last chance to be included—you can submit a picture. There are guidelines, and a $10 fee. Information packets available at the FirstPlace Café Information Desk. Deadline to submit pictures to the church office is Sunday, September 28.

“What’s Next in Human Trafficking?”

All interested persons are invited to a planning meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 5:30 pm, in Room 116 of the Sousa Building at Central High School.  Everyone will be invited to identify and/or offer resources that can be used to stop the trafficking (enslavement) of human beings in the greater San Angelo area, including one’s own time and effort as well as other useful connections you may have in the community.  All organizations represented will be invited to share what they are doing in the effort.  FMI contact Pastor Sheree at sheree@firstmethodist.net or 655-8981.

Confirmation Volunteers Needed

Confirmation classes for 7th graders will start on Sept 28, but not without your help!  If you are willing to help teach Sunday mornings at 9:30am or to be a student’s “Friend in Faith” (formerly known as Faith Buddies) please talk to Tony ASAP.  You can email him at tony.walker@saisd.org

Traffick911 Prayer Team

Anyone interested in praying with others for discernment and empowerment for the Traffick911 project (identifying, rescuing, and helping victims of human sexual trafficking recover) are invited to gather in Journey Classroom, on Tuesdays, 9:15-9:50 a.m.  FMI contact Pastor Sheree.

Wesley Soup Kitchen Donations

The Wesley Soup Kitchen is in need of these items: Paper Towels, Napkins, Liquid Hand Sanitizer, Comet, Stainless steel scourers, Sharpies, Sticky pads bleach, Dish detergent, Stainless steel cleaner, Glass cleaner, Lysol toilet cleaner, All purpose cleaner, Mean green, Easy off, Powdered drink mix (Kool Aid, Tang), Frozen Vegetables, Broth (Chicken, Beef or Veg), Salt/pepper in disposable table containers, Dish Towels, Dish Rags, Oven Mitts or pads, Blankets, Sleeping Bags, Socks, Underwear, Sweaters.  If you are able to donate, items can be dropped off at Wesley Trinity United Methodist on the corner of MLK and 18th St.

There are some chancel flower openings for   11-23, 11-30 and 12-28.  If you would like to honor or memorialize someone or something please call Lori Francks @ 325-234-0375.

Filling the FUMC Pantry in September

Please bring canned meats, canned fruit, jello, canned corn, shampoo, and other toiletries to the FirstPlace Café or the church office. Leave items in the designated green containers. Send monetary donations, payable to “First UMC” and marked “Food Pantry”, to the church office, or place in the Offering plate.
