Meet the Methodists – Last Session!
This 3 session course is designed for new United Methodists and anyone wanting to know more about the denomination, as well as long-time United Methodists who would like to check their basic knowledge of the church. Learn all about United Methodist basics: its history, beliefs & Sacraments. Join our FUMC Pastors on Sunday morning September 7th at 9:30 in the Parlor for the final session. Sign-up online HERE.

Lifetouch Pictorial Directory—Pictures Start NEXT WEEK!
It will be all smiles around FirstChurch the first two weeks of September as families have their pictures made for our new Pictorial Directory! Sign up online TODAY if you haven’t already! 11th Hour Celebration Sunday September 7th!
Join us Sunday September 7th to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the 11th Hour worship service. There will be a church-wide potluck at 12:00. Fried chicken will be provided! Dress casual and show up wearing your favorite FUMC shirt! Many of you have the new FUMC t-shirts. If not, you probably have either a Cokesbury Singers shirt or a SPIRIT t-shirt. Let’s have a little fun and show some FUMC unity for the 10th Anniversary Celebration!
Bye Bye Birdie—RSVP NOW!
On Saturday, September 13th, we will be celebrating Birdie Pool’s 58 years of service to FUMC. While we will miss her, we want to wish her well as she begins her much deserved retirement. We will begin gathering in Celebration Hall at 11:00am and lunch will be served beginning at 11:30. There are special speakers and music planned, so come and help us celebrate our beloved Birdie. “Get Connected” Ministry Fair set for September 14th
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore ministry and mission opportunities at First UMC, and GET CONNECTED. The Fair will take place in the FirstPlace Cafe and the Library all morning, allowing time to browse and visit with ministry area coordinators. Make plans to spend some time at the Fair and see how you can get connected at First Church.
Fall Academy Starts Wednesday, Sept. 17th
Get ready for the Fall Academy of Classes! The Academy dates for Classes & Meals are Sept. 17 – Oct. 29 (7 weeks), and meals will be served from 5:00-6:00. Adult Classes will start at 6:00pm. Courses being offered on Wednesday nights include: Single & Parenting, Sacred Secrets (Beth Moore Study), God Heard Their Cry (Ray Vander Laan Study), Jacob, Part 1 and Financial Peace University. Kraig Schell will lead a 7 week study on C.S. Lewis’ classic, Mere Christianity, on Sundays at 5:00 in the Library, beginning Sept. 14. Other upcoming studies include Christian Believer, Disciple Bible Study and Meet the Methodists. An 8-week course called Get Acquainted with your Bible will be offered on Sunday mornings beginning Sept. 21. Click HERE to see the full fall line up!
United Methodist Women
UMW will resume meeting starting September 4th at 9:45 in the Library. Beth Kopecky will be the presenter. UMW meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.
Delivering Meals in September
Each March and September First Church helps deliver meals throughout San Angelo via the Meals for the Elderly organization. Sign up is underway in the FirstPlace Café this morning to deliver the end of September, Mon-Fri Sept. 15-30. Stop by the Information Desk to learn more, or contact Sherrie Walker in the Church Office.
Confirmation Volunteers Needed
Confirmation classes for 7th graders will start on Sept 28, but not without your help! If you are willing to help teach Sunday mornings at 9:30am or to be a student’s “Friend in Faith” (formerly known as Faith Buddies) please talk to Tony ASAP. You can email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
Traffick911 Prayer Team
Anyone interested in praying with others for discernment and empowerment for the Traffick911 project (identifying, rescuing, and helping victims of human sexual trafficking recover) are invited to gather in Journey Classroom, on Tuesdays, 9:15-9:50 a.m. FMI contact Pastor Sheree.

Filling the FUMC Pantry in August
Please bring canned meats, rice and toiletries to the FirstPlace Café or the church office. Leave items in the designated green containers. Send monetary donations, payable to “First UMC” and marked “Food Pantry”, to the church office, or place in the Offering plate.
