MATURE ADULTS COUNCIL

Mature Adult Council meets:  On the third Thursday of each month, at 5 p.m., in the church library.

The Mature Adults Council (MAC) was formed October 19, 2004 to provide an intentional ministry to older persons (65-85+ years) in our congregation.   We are reminded that older persons represent a creative resource bank.  We want to involve them in Worship service, and service to the community as persons of insight and wisdom. Therefore, we also serve in an advocacy role in behalf of the elderly of our congregation.

***A survey taken, revealed that 26.3% of our congregation are sixty-five (65) and older and resides in Private homes, Assisted Living, and Nursing homes.   The Mature Adults Council ensures that all of these members are visited on a regular basis, and any conditions observed that affect their health and life styles are addressed.  Monthly, Holy Communion is given to them where they reside. Additionally, a get-well card is sent to those who are sick and birthday cards are sent to those celebrating a birthday. The MAC ensures that transportation is provided for those members who need it, in order to attend church and related activities.

***The MAC plans social activities, such as the Cokesbury Hymn Sing & Ice Cream Social each summer.

*** The MAC sponsors the "Cokesbury Christian Singers", a choir that was formed February 19th, 2008, with Dr. Koste A. Belcheff as director.  The choir will sing in worship occasionally, sing for our shut-in members, and are available for some singing engagements.  Rehearsal for the choir is each Thursday at 2 pm in the Choir Room.
