At First United Methodist Church
in Downtown San Angelo, we have a heart for caring for our congregation and
their families with support during times of illness and loss, congratulations
during times of joy and new birth. Congregational care plays a vital role in the
church community together as the body of Christ.
We have several different ministries that makeup congregational care. We have a
prayer ministry lead by Richard Evans to whom you can direct your prayer request
as well as our ministers. Our ministers visit those members and their families
who are in the hospital and staff also call and visit members who are homebound
and can no longer attend church. New babies are honored with a rose on the
Chancel at the time of their birth. Notewriters write notes of encouragement and
congratulations to members of our church and community. Communion is served both
at retirement centers and nursing homes as well as individual homes to those who
can no longer attend church services.
Congregational Care is as vital ministry to our church community and it is
everyone’s responsibility in becoming a part of this rewarding ministry.
You may serve the congregation by spending time in prayer, visiting a homebound
member, writing notes. Open your heart and life, so others know that this
congregation cares.
